Today (February 11, 2025), a group of investors led by Elon Musk, the world's richest billionaire and Donald Trump's right-hand man, offered $97.4 billion, or approximately 3.3 trillion baht, to acquire OpenAI, an artificial intelligence company that created ChatGPT.
Sam Altman, the company's CEO, has already rejected the offer and hit back at Musk, saying he is interested in buying Twitter for $9.74 billion, or about 330 billion baht, if Musk wants it. Musk and Altman co-founded OpenAI in 2015 as a nonprofit, before Musk spun out of it in 2018. Musk's proposed acquisition of OpenAI is another attempt to prevent the AI startup from turning into a for-profit company.
